Head In Tides
The Artist and the Octopus

Description
It has been proven that the octopus is a
creature that performs self-cannibalism. When the octopus is under stress, the
octopus resorts to eating off its limbs one by one. For this reason, I believe the octopus
is much like the artist. Instead of self-mutilation, I believe the artist
often takes part in a sort of mental mutilation. When your head is in tides
it’s nearly impossible to see your arm is gone.

The art piece really does fit the mental mutilation part. I really loved the comparison of how an octopus will eat itself when under enough stress to how we as humans do so mentally under stress as well.
